Reynolds Wrap® is looking for its next Chief Grilling Officer! New for 2019, Reynolds Wrap® is on a mission to identify the best BBQ ribs in America and we want you to lead the way.

As CGO, you won’t need a comfy corner office because for two weeks in August, you’ll be busy tasting and savoring BBQ ribs from some of the top BBQ rib cities in the country. Along the way, you’ll share tips, grilling techniques and photos on the Reynolds Kitchens® website and social channels, so grilling enthusiasts at home can make drool-worthy BBQ ribs on their own. You’ll also receive a $10,000 stipend along with pre-paid travel and lodging for you and a (very lucky) guest!

May 2, 2019 – LAKE FOREST, Illinois, and SAN MATEO, California – Reynolds Consumer Products is piloting the first phase of a 3D interactive training iPad app as a part of their digital transformation vision in the workplace.  Armed with 3D “training on demand”— line operators, technicians and engineers can engage with the iPad “Virtual Line” app, accessing visual and interactive information to learn tasks faster, with fewer errors, and with improved knowledge retention — without disrupting the line operations or productivity.  This new style of learning is anticipated to result in increased machine understanding, improved safety, less machine downtime, higher yields, and increased employee retention.

Sponsored by Judi Buckner, SVP Business Transformation, this training application will be deployed for employees operating Hefty® trash bags lines. “I see tremendous potential to extend the traditional training classroom onto the factory floor and we chose iPad with Heartwood to help us do this, because iPad is both a user-friendly and powerful interactive tool. It’s extremely well-suited to our business objective. By transforming complicated work instructions into this 3D interactive app, we are providing our teams with valuable training on our manufacturing processes and adding value faster than ever before.”

At Reynolds, new factory employees train both in a classroom and on the shop floor before becoming certified to run a production line. Typically, for new hires who have never seen the equipment, machines on the production line have to be stopped for training. With the Virtual Line app, employees will familiarize themselves with equipment on iPad before entering the factory floor — preventing a costly loss of productivity. Instructors can explain complicated procedures using detailed interactive 3D simulations to make sure employees have the knowledge and confidence to succeed. After their initial training, employees will have ongoing access to Virtual Line training on iPad.

HEFTY® ENERGYBAG® PROGRAM LAUNCHES FOURTH GRANT

Lake Forest, Ill., – (April 27, 2018) – The Hefty EnergyBag program offers an innovative approach to diverting hard-to-recycle plastics, such as chip bags, stand-up pouches, foam containers, candy wrappers and juice pouches, from landfills and converting them into valuable resources.

For a fourth cycle, $125,000 in grant funding is available to eligible communities across the nation. Previous grant recipients include Boise, ID, Cobb County, Georgia, and Lincoln, Nebraska, which will launch its Hefty EnergyBag Program at the end of April. The first permanent Hefty EnergyBag program launched in the Omaha area in October 2016.

Recipients of the fourth grant will be announced in late 2019, after submissions have been fully evaluated.

“We’re pleased to encourage the growth of the Hefty EnergyBag Program so that we can recover the value of used plastics that can’t currently be recycled,” said Matt Maurer, Senior Director for Hefty Brands. “The Omaha-area, Boise-area and Cobb County programs have already proven that we can successfully and sustainably divert more plastics from landfills and reuse those molecules. We’re eager to continue expanding this program and to encourage improved recycling in communities throughout the country.”

The grant application is open to municipalities, nonprofits, materials recovery facilities and other qualifying organizations through July 12, 2019. Grant recipients will be equipped with a framework to aid them in developing successful Hefty EnergyBag programs in their communities, and will facilitate planning, implementation and metrics tracking. Recipients will also receive consultation as they manage their local programs and solicit involvement from key community stakeholders.

Through February, the Hefty EnergyBag program has collected more than 497,000 bags and diverted over 331 tons of hard-to-recycle plastics from landfills—the equivalent of 1,573 barrels of diesel fuel produced from collected materials or eliminating approximately 48 full trash trucks each year.

The Hefty® brand is thrilled to partner with the Chicago Cubs and neighbors to keep the Lakeview neighborhood beautiful throughout the 2018 season.

Lake Forest, Ill. – (September 29, 2018) – The Hefty® brand has partnered with the Chicago Cubs for multiple neighborhood cleanup initiatives in 2018, including:

Daily cleanups featuring branded Hefty® Trash Bag bins. Every morning, visitors and residents of the Lakeview community encounter the Cubs Cleanup Crew and one of the six branded Hefty® bins roaming the streets to help keep the sidewalks clean.

Let’s Pitch In! Earth Day event and monthly neighbor cleanups. A group of passionate neighbors approached the Cubs to help organize ongoing cleanups and Hefty® has supported the initiative in a big way. The program launched on Earth Day and Hefty® provided volunteers, branded bags and new branded bins to support the event. More than 100 volunteers picked up trash across 43 city blocks, totaling 1,000 pounds of trash and filling all six Hefty bins to the brim! The event was featured on various news stations and Cubs and Hefty social media channels. Since the April launch, cleanups have continued throughout the summer.

Neighborhood Grounds Crew Recognition. Hefty® and the Cubs recognized two neighborhood “Head Grounds Keepers” who have been most influential in cleanup efforts throughout the year. The recipients were celebrated for their significant contributions before the August 25, 2018, game at Wrigley Field.    

These new initiatives are helping drive a strong partnership with the Chicago Cubs as the Hefty® brand joins them in supporting and caring for the community, and will continue collaborating on cleanup initiatives the rest of 2018 and into next season.
